MFF: Call For Entries

The most recognized and most anticipated annual filmmaking event in southern Philippines is calling for entries for this year’s film festival.

The Mindanao Film Festival, an initiative to promote films made by Mindanao-based filmmakers and films about, related to, or shot in Mindanao, is calling for submissions for feature-length films, short films and documentaries.

Festival Director Kenth O’Bajo said that there is nothing unique about Mindanawon films—but the stories themselves are. He further echoed a statement once said by a Vietnamese director who once filmed a movie in the island, “Mindanao is a land of tales and deep stories.”

The camera is the point-of-view of the film maker. What you see in the frame is how he sees—or what he wants you to see about—Mindanao.

“Watching Mindanawon films makes us more aware on the variety of issues affecting our society from a local’s/insider’s perspective,” he added. “It also helps us to be more appreciative of our culture.”
